2019 IMDG Changes

Changes in the new Amendment of the IMDG Code

Highlights of the changes are:

◊ New materials have been added

◊ Classification requirements for corrosives

◊ New segregation groups added

◊ Packing instruction additions

◊ Clarification of which proper shipping name to use when an identification number has multiple proper shipping names.

The newest Amendment of the IMDG will be voluntary effective date on January 1, 2019 with a mandatory effective date of January 1, 2020.

The 60th Edition of the IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations will be effective January 1, 2019.  There are various changes that will take place.

 

Highlights of the changes are:

◊ 12 new UN numbers have been added

◊ Lithium battery labeling changes

♦ New lithium battery handling label and a class 9 lithium battery label

◊ Shippers declaration changes

♦ The wording “subsidiary risk” with “subsidiary hazard”

♦ The new format will be required January 1, 2025

◊ Updates to packing instructions, special provisions, and variations
