On October 19, 2009, PHMSA issued a final rule on emergency response information requirements. Click here to view a copy of this rulemaking. This rulemaking is permissive November 18, 2009 and will be mandatory effective November 18, 2010.
On August 25, 2009, PHMSA issued a rulemaking on additional shipping descriptions for Lithium Metal and Lithium Ion Batteries. This rulemaking helps to further harmonize the lithium battery regulations for domestic and international air transportation. This rulemaking is effective August 25, 2009. Click here to view a copy.
New packaging will be required for oxygen, oxidizing gases and chemical oxygen generators for air shipments beginning October 1, 2009. Click here to view a copy of the rulemaking.
